The oldest journalism review in the nation is back, with new additions and a renewed focus on covering the media in all shapes and forms.

Readers will be happy to know Montana Journalism Review still holds true to its main goal: to analyze media issues that matter most to Montanans. But this year, the magazine has expanded to cover media outside the state.

To accomplish this mission, we have revamped three sections in our magazine. The new Neighborhood Watch features stories from surrounding states in the West. State of the State focuses on media issues and coverage in Montana, while The Year Ahead previews hot journalism topics for 2015.

This year’s edition concentrates on the shifting landscape of the media industry and how journalists, news sources, and audiences are adapting to change.

Founded in 1958, Montana Journalism Review is produced by journalism students at the University of Montana, and has been under the guidance of Henriette Lowisch, Editor-in-Chief since 2012. MJR is grateful to Matt Gibson for his sponsorship of the print edition.

Both the print and digital editions are created by a staff of advanced journalism students at the University of Montana’s School of Journalism. UM professor Henriette Lowisch serves as editor-in-chief. All rights remain with the authors of the works published in the magazine.

Tablet designed and produced by MJR staffer Abbey Dufoe.
